Crochet Pattern

Updated 9/25/2022 3:25 pm EST
Yarn: Lily Sugar 'n Cream in I think Dark Orchid (worsted weight, 4-ply)
Hook Size: US G6 (4.0mm)
Gauge?: Idk, but it ended up around 8in in diameter with no blocking. Use different sized yarn and needles if you want it bigger or smaller
Yardage: Not sure, but less than 1 ball of 120 yd, so maybe 50-70yd?
Difficulty: Intermediate? Late beginner? I've only been crocheting for 2 weeks when I made this
Time: It took me 2 or 3 evenings of trial and error, so hopefully it's faster for youSome parts are still kind of funky in mine and I'm not sure what would have fixed them. I also wrote the pattern after finishing the whole thing, so I'm not sure if I got everything right, mostly for the beginning and end of rounds. Feel free to modify things if you find they work better. Idk what to say about any uhh idk copyright stuff or whatever, but if you make it i would like to see 🤲
Sc = single crochet
Dc = double crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Tr = triple (treble?) crochet
Ch#: chain # times
Sl = slip stitch
Plus dc+ (idk the proper name) and picot, which are written out in the pattern
Round 0: Chain 9 (or however many in order to fit the sc's later). Slip stitch back into the first stitch to make a ringR1: Single crochet 18 around the ring (into the ring, not into any stitches. Wrap around the tail as well to hide it), slip stitch back into the first sc. They should fit snugly around the ring, but without overlapping. You can go back and change how many chains are in R0 to make them fitR2: [dc, ch1, sc, ch1] x9 (alternate double and single crochet into each stitch, and chain 1 in between each), and uhh somehow join back to the beginning of the round, slip stitch somewhere I guess. For the first dc, probably make it a ch2 insteadR3: Ch1, then ch4, sc into the dc from R2. [Sc again into the same dc, ch4, sc into the next dc from R2] all around until back to the beginning of the round. There should be 2 sc in each dc of R2. Sl back into the first ch1 I think. There should be 9 loopy things.R4: i think this is half double crochet (or half treble crochet? Are those the same thing?) all around, into the top loop of every stitch. Join back at the beginning in whatever way makes the most sense, involving a slip stitch probably. (There might be a ch1 or 2 at the beginning, I don't remember, but if you do that then you can maybe sl back into it to close the round)
Somehow end up with 54-ish stitches by the end of this round.R5: ch2, [ch2, skip a stitch and sc dc into the next] all around until back at the beginning, sl into uhh that first ch1 i guess? (Or like dc into every other stitch, with a ch2 in between.) There should be 81 stitches at the end, and you should get 27 loopy things. To end, sl into the 2nd stitch of the very first ch2 instead of doing the last dc.
(Fixed some mistakes, should be dc, not sc in every other stitch, and ch2 instead of ch1 in the beginning)R5 another: (I forgot a round oops) ch1 probably, then sc into the top loop of every stitch. Sl back into the ch1 (maybe skipping over the last stitch? maybe not?). Make sure there are 81 stitches by the end.R6: ch1, then do this for every 9 stitches: sc, sc, dc, dc+ [after pull yarn up through stitch from yo (or yarn under? Around?), slip off 1, yo, slip off 2, yo, slip off last two] and ch1, tr and ch1, dc+, dc, sc, sc. There are 9 sets of that, and should cover 3 each of the 27 loopy things. At the end, maybe skip the last sc? To sl back into the first ch1. This forms the base of the petals. There should be 99 stitches I think

R7: ch1. Do this for every 11 stitches: sc and ch1, tr, dc, dc and ch2, skip stitch, tr and ch2, skip stitch, dc, dc, tr and ch1, sc. This is also done 9 times. Maybe skip last sc to sl back into first ch1

R8: ch1. Sc into the first uhh 6 stitches, inserting into the top loop. Then in the tr from R7 (or whichever one is at the center and decently loose), insert into the whole stitch(? Under 2 things of yarn instead of just 1) and sc, then picot [ch3, then sl into the first stitch of that chain], and sc again into the same tr, then continue sc into the top loop of the stitches for 6 more stitches, then slip stitch the next two (from the sc’s from R7, and insert into the whole stitch). Keep going up and down the petals like that all the way around. Skip the last sl and sl into the first ch1 instead. Fasten off and sew in end
It'll probably come out kinda wiggly and not all the way flat. Idk how to fix that in the pattern, but you could maybe uhhh block it? I think that's what people do, to stretch it out and stuff. If you like the wiggly look, you can leave it as is.
